Early service:
- Lead Me to Calvary (Hussey/Kirkpatrick)
- At the Cross (Hudson/Watts)
- How Deep the Father’s Love for Us (Townend)
- I’m Forever Grateful (Altrogge)
- Choir: Calvary Is the Sea (Alexander/Clark/Wood, arranged by Sterling)
- Ladies Ensemble: We Are the Body of Christ (Brown/Hampton)
- Response: Cleanse Me (Orr/Maori melody arranged by Douglas)
Went speechless today especially after all of the songs reminding us of God’s love for us and Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Almost couldn’t pray prior to the offering time. Wow, God, I can’t believe You even care about me. I’m so not worth it–none of us are–but dang, You love us so!!
Contemporary service:
- Mansion (Springer)
- Freedom (Bushard)
- Everybody Praise the Lord (Brewster)
- Send the Fire (Booth)
- Show Your Power (Prosch)
- ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus (Kirkpatrick/Stead)
- What Only You Can Do (Edwards)
Some highlights from the message today:
- Our God is a God of second chances! Just ask Jonah, and countless other Christians here today!
- Hearing testimony through a song written and song by a woman visiting our church today who’s come out of addiction, and also a man who is a Katrina hurricane survivor.
- God believes in us more than we believe in ourselves!
- If you’re alive, it isn’t too late, no matter how far away from God you’ve gotten. He is a God of second chances!
- God is in control of every single circumstance in our lives!
I think today God was doing some powerful things, though unseen to our eyes. God is working for sure. Why must I be so impatient?

Good set! Is the last one in the contemporary set Misty Edwards? We were thinking about doing “You Won’t Relent” by her, but our worship pastor isn’t crazy about the lyrics talking about “jealousy demanding as the grave”. Maybe we’ll change those five words and do it anyway…
Be blessed,
Brad
@Brad: Yes, the last song is a Misty Edwards song.
Actually, You Won’t Relent has been on our hearts as well.
I don’t know why the line “jealousy demanding as the grave” would be an issue though — God loves us so much that He doesn’t want us to perish (the eternal “grave” — Hell, if you will, where we’d be without Him forever), but if we aren’t His, that’s where we’ll end up. Of course, we can probably see that line in other ways as well, but that’s the way it strikes me. I’m probably wrong though! It does say that He is a “jealous” God though (Exodus 20:4-5) and He surely wants ALL of us.
Found this interesting!

Wow, thanks for getting me thinking tonight!
Wow–Calvary is The Sea–now that brings back memories!
Lots of songs.. How many do you do in a 3 month period? Do you try to repeat?
His love for us is amazing!
I know this is a year old post that I just discovered on Google, but just so ya’ll know, the lyrics from “You Won’t Relent” are taken straight out of Song Of Solomon (8:6-7).
Yes, it’s right from the Word.
It’s a GREAT song! One of my favorites. By the way, Misty Edwards has two new albums out as of 12.28.09 if anyone didn’t already know. They are titled “Fling Wide” (live, full band) and “Point of Life” (studio album, great for devo times!) (Ha, there’s my plug! They are great albums!)
