We've been using EasyWorship for about 4 years now. The thing that I found made the biggest difference is when we finally bit the bullet and completely upgraded the PC that we were using. (I'm a mac fan/user, too, so I hate the PC mentality as it is...) When we spent about $800 and bought a Dell that doubled all of the suggested operating specs on EW, we've never had another iota of trouble. We are VERYYY media-heavy as well, with most services having 2-3 videos, audio tracks, powerpoint, and use of the built-in songs. I think it might be the workstation. As media coordinator, it was a huge deal to me to know that the PC that was being used wasn't going to crap out on one of my volunteers in the middle of the service! :)

I love those days. We just had a massive day in our church just 3 weeks ago and easy worship "crapped" out like that. But we fixed it....we got rid of easy worship and got a imac and propresenter. easy worship doesn't screw anymore of our services up. haha

Love the improvising! God does cool things in those moments we are uncomfortable.

@Mike: Thanks for the link! I've forwarded it to our Powerpoint tech to check out!

@Alastair: Yes, I think all technical stuff was fine at 2nd service. It wasn't as fancy using Powerpoint for lyrics vs. EasyWorship, but having the lyrics up is more important than cool animations! At early service it wasn't bad either. Good thing the choir uses lyric sheets--we were able to make quick copies extra for the congregation to use so they could still be engaged.

As for the EasyWorship version... I know they use a version that came out in 2006. Apparently they can't go any higher because of the laptop being used, but I was informed today that they are going to try to budget something in... who knows! They have an even older version on the laptop that worked Sunday, but wasn't up-to-date with all the new songs.

Glad you and your family could come visit! :)

The service was great on Sunday. Any technical difficulties were not obvious to congregation - at least in second service!

What version of EasyWorship do you use there? You should speak to their support people, a newer version might fix things for you.

Amanda, check out http://www.opensong.org/ This is a great little program for presentations, lead sheets and lyric sheets. It also has integrated bible modules availible. We've been using it for a couple years and will not even think about anything else.

Oh, yeah, and it's open source. Yanno, free!
